I have been very fortunate to have been taught by some exceptional trainers throughout my showjumping career.
Firstly by John Smart, a former member of the Household Cavalry who would not stand for any tantrums or tears from a twelve year old child. John taught me the importance of dressage which is essential for the control of the horse between fences when showjumping and I think this is a valuable lesson which is often overlooked and under estimated.
Secondly by Stephen Hadley, former British Olympic Showjumping Coach, who taught me gridwork which is of great benefit to both horse and rider, helping improve balance and technique. Steve also encouraged the British government to grant me citizenship which enabled me to compete for Great Britain on several occasions.
Finally by Kenneth Clawson, British Olympic Event Team Showjumping coach, who taught me pure guts and determination, second place was never good enough in his eyes! Kenneth helped me to win Gold and Silver medals at Bourge-en-Bresse, France, the Junior European Showjumping Championships, Ennis, Ireland and the European Young Master Cup, Montabaur- Horresen, Germany.
I also competed on the Senior European Circuit throughout Europe travelling to Luxembourg, Denmark, Holland, France, Belgium, Germany and Ireland.
Since arriving in Australia I am breaking, training and competing some future superstars at the infamous Bellhaven Stud, Belli Park who’s stock hails from such legends as Cassini I and Cassini II, Corrado I, Caretino, Cardento, Carpaccio, Jalisco B, Alme, Cruising, Argentinus, Aloube z, Contender, Landgraf and have had the priviledge of working with Karl Heinz Schwab when he comes to visit us from Germany.
I would like to offer my experience to all horses and riders who would like professional training. This can be achieved either on your own property or at Bellhaven Stud which has excellent facilities and a large outdoor arena. If you would like more in depth training, we can stable your horse at Bellhaven Stud and it will be educated on a daily basis.
I am an accredited Pony Club Instructor at Nambour Pony Club and offer private or group lessons for all ages and levels. I find it highly effective to show and explain how to achieve results whilst riding the horse. By using this method you can watch and learn how to get the same response yourself!
